Stunning double exposure!
Photographer Michiko Makino was born in Gunma, Japan and has been exhibiting in Japan and internationally since 2007. Her rich double exposures of life in Toyko are presented in her project: Toyko Kingyou.
“Everything has two sides in it：beauty and ugliness, vice and virtue, light and darkness, etc. and it depends on you how you look at it and how you understand it. At the crossing of Shibuya, at the station of Shinjuku and at the main street of Ginza, I photograph scenery of what I see there and then think about the present time which was linked from the past and to the future.
Photographs might be the capture of one single moment of the world. However, I always have a strange feeling that there might be another world behind my photographs, another tense behind. The only thing I need in a motion of my shooting photographs is the understanding of a moment of capturing things by heart. It is what I used to do when I really deserved to do.” – Michiko Makino

Rebecca Yanovskaya: Overwhelming Force
Rebecca Yanovskaya is a graduate from the Illustration program at Sheridan CollegeHer main focus is creating illustrations in the fantasy, sci-fi and horror genres. She is inspired by and frequently illustrates mythological stories, natural forces, and the beauty of the human figure.
While Rebecca’s work began in small sketchbooks it is becoming larger and more ambitious, with gold, floral patterns, and natural materials such as wood panels featuring in her work. Despite most artists in her genre using digital and traditional painting tools, she has made the choice to construct her pieces with ballpoint pen instead.
In her most recent Winged series, Yanovskaya combines ballpoint pen with 22K gold leaf applique on Moleskine paper. If you’re interested in prints, they are available through INPRNT.
Anonymous asked: That picture is not gaza. Please stop spreading false images around.
You say it as though I knowingly reblogged an image I knew to be false. I had no idea, but I’m also not one to mess with photo credit and labels. I reblogged as is for the artistic content, point blank. I’m not going to remove it from my blog, as damage has been done and it should still be recognized for artistic merit. If there’s copyright or the artist is mislabeled let me know.
As the world looks on with horror at the growing civilian toll in Gaza, and Hamas and Israel consider the terms of a U.S.-proposed ceasefire, one young Palestinian architect is responding to the crisis through art. Gaza-based Tawfik Gebreel aims to send a message, in the “universal humanitarian language understood by all peoples of the world.” He is using photos of the smoke thrown up by rocket strikes and reworking the images with symbols of hope and unity.

please don’t watch exodus: gods and kings because it’s icky and racist. you deserve better. you deserve the prince of egypt.
May I also add that The Prince of Egypt’s accuracy has been approved by not only Christianity, but by Judaism and Islam as well! So it’s actually the most accurately told version out there!
May I also add that even an Agnostic like myself is obsessively in love with Prince of Egypt? It’s THAT good of a movie.
I haven’t seen this movie in years. I really should try to find it again.
